Sree Siddhi Buddhi Sametha Arulmigu Dakshinamoorthi Vinayakar temple is located in Melattur, about 18 kms from Thanjavur/Tanjore Dt, Tamil Nadu. Although there are several famous temples in this tiny village, one of the most prominent and powerful among them and which has a place in our Ancient Puranam is the Sree Siddhi Buddhi Sametha Arulmigu Dakshinamoorthi Vinayakar temple.
This temple is also called as Kalayana Vinayaka Temple, and those who prefers for quick marriages, can visit this temple, in order to fetch a good life partner and also to get married soon. Divorcees/widows/widowers can also visit this temple in order to find a suitable life partner for them.
As per ancient legend, once when Lord Ganesa visited the Brahma Loka, Lord Brahma felt very happy about the arrival of Lord Ganesa to his divine Loka, and hence he decided to offer his two daughters as a gift to the first god Vinayaka. Brahma’s daughters were also very much interested to marry with Lord Ganesa, and after getting permission from Lord Shiva and Ma Parvati, it is believed that the divine marriage took place in the Brahma Loka, the abode of Lord Brahma.
Mythology has it that Sri Gargha Maharishi who had chronicled the 108 famous Vinayakar sthalams (Temples) in the “Gnana Puranam”, has listed the Melattur Sree Siddhi Buddhi Sametha Dakshinamoorthi Vinayakar Temple as the 81st sthalam.
