Today, 8 July 2014 Chaturmas Vrat begins. Chaturmas Vrat is an auspicious vrata observed for four holy months in Hindu Dharma. It begins on Shukla Paksha Ekadashi in Ashada Month (Devshayani Ekadashi) and ends on Shukla Paksha in Kartik Month (Prabhodini Ekadashi).

By Sanyasis, Sadhus, Mathadhipathis and Peethadhipathis, Chaturmasya Vratham is observed for two months, beginning on Ashada Purnima (Guru Purnima / Vyasa Purnima Puja) and concludes with Bhadrapada Purnima (Uma Maheshwara Vratha). In 2014, Chaturmasya Vratham for Sanyasis is from July 12 to September 9.

Vyasa Puja, Guru Puja, Dakshinamurthi Puja (Shiva Puja), Hayagriva Puja, Dattatreya Puja, Narasimha Puja, etc are the major rituals or pujas to perform during Chaturmas Vrat.
