Champa Sashti, Chamba Shashti

Champa Sashti, also known as Chamba Shashti, is a six-day festival celebrated from the first to sixth day during the Margashirsha mahina in Maharashtra. In 2022, Champa Sashti festival begins on November 24 and ends on November 29.

The main festival is held on the final day, Sashti. Chamba Sashti is dedicated to Lord Khandoba and celebrated at Jejuri.

Chamba Sashti is observed to commemorate the great fight of Khandoba with demons Mani-Malla. Devotees believe that on the sixth day of Margashirsh month, Khandoba slain the demons.

In Pember, a Jatra is held on Champa Sasthi and continued upto New Moon day.  Khandoba is also known as Malhari Martand, Khanderaya, Khanderao and Mallu Khan. Khandoba is popularly worshipped as Martanda Bhairava, a form of Lord Shiva.
