Bilva Vratam is worshipping bilva patra (bel leaves). In some places, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are also worshipped with bilva patra on Kamika Ekadasi (Krishna Paksha Ekadashi in Shravan month). In 2017, Bilva vratam dates are July 20 and August 3.
Some devotees also observe the similar puja in Jyeshta month.
As per the legend mentioned in the Skanda Purana, this vrat is observed by taking bath with water mixed with mustard seeds and only consuming satvik food. The image of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva are kept under Bilva tree or at home and 1,008 leaves of bel tree are offered to the divine couple.
The important merits or benefits of Bilva Vratam are better marital life and prosperity in the life.
