Badi Amavasya (Bhadon Amavasya) is the No Moon day in Bhadrapad Month in North Indian Hindi calendars. In 2021, Badi Amavasya date is September 6-7.

According to some legends, Bhadrapada Amavasya is the day when Goddess Sati immolated herself on funeral pyre of her husband.

On this day, many fairs or Melas are held in North Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.

This Amavasya coincides with Shravan Amavasya as per Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu and Kannada calendars. It falls in Avani Masam of Tamil calendar, Chingam Month of Malayalam calendar and Bhadra Month of Bengali calendar.
