Arudra Darshan (Arudra Darisanam) is an auspicious event celebrated in Margali Masam.
Arudra Darshan, Arudra Darisanam, is a festival dedicated to the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva (Shiva Tandava). The dancing form of Shiva is known as Natarajar Swamy. In 2021, Arudra Darshan date is December 20.
Arudra Darshan festival is celebrated on Thiruvathira nakshatram (Arudra Nakshatram) in Margali Month (Margazhi Masam) of Tamil calendar.
It is celebrated among huge devotee-base in Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleshwar Temple and Chidambaram Natarajar Swamy Temple. In Thiruvannamalai, Tiruvoodal festival commemorates the quarrel between Annamalaiyaar and Unnamulai Amman.
Arudra Darisnam festival is also known as Thiruvadirai or Thiruvathirai festival in other places of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
