The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), is keen on introducing a special package for Lord Balaji’s darshan and accommodation on Tirumala for air travellers from the port city.
A similar darshan and accommodation package is being offered for those travelling from Hyderabad. Spicejet, which cancelled its flight operations from Vizag to Tirupati a few months back due to poor response, is said to be interested in re-introducing services, if APTDC agrees to launch the package.
Tourism officer S.D. Anita, recently, wrote to APTDC higher officials in Hyderabad about the demand for such package after it was raised by the members of various business associations at a meeting with local MP and Union minister of state for commerce and industry D. Purandeswari.
The tour package for air travellers from Hyderabad to Tirupati includes a visit to Srikalahasti, Alamelumangapuram and Tirumala darshan along with accommodation. APTDC would allot 40 per cent of the rooms on Tirumala under their control for Vizag air passengers under the package.
“APTDC is interested in extending the Tirumala temple tour package to travellers from Vizag as well,” said Anita. MP Purandeswari , on Wednesday, wrote letters to tourism officials and the minister underlining need for the package.
