Today, 29 September 2012 is Anant Chaturdashi (Anantha Vratham). It is a vrata dedicated to Lord Ananta Padmanabha Swamy, the form of Lord Vishnu who reclines on Adisesha (a Giant Serpent).
Ananta Chaturdasi falls on the 14th day of Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month in Hindu calendars. As the word ‘Anatha’ represents the meaning of endless and boundless, the merits of this Vratham are also enormous.
Ganesh Visarjan is also observed on Anant Chaturdasi day in almost all parts of India…
The married couples observe this Vrata for 14 consecutive years and then Udyapana is observed.
