As we know, Lakshmi Puja is the main ritual of Akshay Tritiya. In some places, Gauri Puja is also observed on Akshay Tritiya. In Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and some other parts of India, Akshaya Thadiya is considered as auspicious day to observe Gauri Puja.
Usually, Tritiya or Thadiya (third day of each paksha in every month) is dedicated to Goddess Gauri (Goddess Parvathi). And Vaishakha Shukla Thadiya is even more auspicious to perform Gauri Puja as it one of the Sade Teen Muhurat (Shubha Muhurtham). In 2018, Akshay Tritiya date is April 18.
In Andhra Pradesh, Akshaya Thritiya Gauri Puja is known as Aksha Thadiya Gauramma Puja. Married women perform the puja for marital bliss and long-lasting life of their husband. They prepare Goddess Gauri idol (Gauramma) with haldi (turmeric) and start the puja with Ganapati Puja.
Special naivedyam (food offerings) is offered to Gauramma. In the evening, married women distribute the ‘Vayanam (offerings) to other married women).
For some devotees who observe Sowbhagya Tritiya Puja from Chaitra Shukla Tritiya, Akshaya Tritiya is the concluding day. They observe it as month-long Sowbhagya Tritiya Vratham.
