108 feet Basaveshwara idol basava kalyana Bidar

108 Feet giant Basaveshwara idol is constructed and getting ready for inauguration at Basavakalyan, a town in Bidar district of Karnataka. Basaveshwara (Basava / Bhakti Bhandari Basavanna) was a philosopher, statesman, social reformer and Saint from present-day Karnataka.

The giant idol of Basaveshwara will be unveiled on 28 October 2012, Sunday.

The construction of this idol along with the Sharana Grama (which depicts how the social situations were in 12th Century) was started on September 1st, 2004 by Koodala Sangama Basava Dharmapeetham.

The expenditure of the construction of the idol is estimated at 6 crore rupees.
