Jyeshta Purnima, the Full Moon day in Jyeshta month, is also known as Vat Purnima or Vat Savitri Purnima. In 2010, Jyeshta Purnima date is June 26. On 26 June 2010, there will be a Pakshik Chandra Grahan to take place. This Chandra Grahan may visible in North East India for less than a minute in the evening at moon rise time.
Vat Savitri Puja is observed on Jyeshta Purnima in North India, especially in Orissa. On Jyeshta Purnima (Snan Purnima / Devsnana Purnima) Snana Yatra is held in Puri Jagannath Temple.
In Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara swamy temple, Jyeshta Abhishekam is observed during Jyeshta nakshatra in Jyeshta month. Tiruchanur Padmavathi Ammavari Theppotsavam is also held during Jyeshta Purnima.
Jyeshta Purnima is also considered auspicious for Ganga Snan. Ganga Dussehra Snan which started six days ago will be concluded on Jyeshta Purnima day. The main snan takes place at Brahm Kund and Har-ki-pauri.
