Ashad Mahina 2012 in Marathi Panchang: Ashad Maas dates

Ashad mahina (Aashad month) is the fourth month in traditional Marathi Panchang followed in Maharashtra and some Konkan regions. In 2012, Ashadh Mahina starts on 20 June and ends on 19 July as per the Marathi calendar. Similar dates are observed as Ashada maasam in Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarat Amavasyant lunar calendars.

Ashad Mahina is considered as inauspicious for any shubhakaryam such as marriage, engagement ceremony, Gruh pravesh (house warming ceremony), etc.

Ashadi Ekadasi (Sayani Ekadasi or Maha Ekadashi), Chaturmaas Vrat arambh, Ved Vyas Purnima or Guru Purnima, and Gatari Amavasya are the major festivals celebrated during Ashada month in Maharashtra. Ashadi Ekadasi Palki Yatra is the major temple festival celebrated in Pandharpur Vithoba temple.
