Gauri Vrat or Gouri Puja, Molakat Vrat, an auspicious austerity dedicated to Goddess Gowri, is observed for 5 days in Ashad Maas as per Gujarati calendar. In 2012, Gauri Vrat begins on June 30 and ends on July 3. It is mainly observed in Gujarat and Gujarati influenced regions of Maharashtra. Gouri Vrat starts on Devsayani Ekadasi (Ashadi Ekadashi) and concludes on Ashad Purnima (Guru Purnima). These days are also known as Panchuka or Garui Panchak.
Gauri Vrat, also known as Ashad Gauri Puja, is especially observed by unmarried young girls to get ideal husband. There are no significant Vratas in Ashada maas for married women.
