Vaishakha masa or Vaishakh month is the second month in traditional Hindu Kannada calendar followed in Karnataka. In 2018, Vaishakha masa starts on April 16 and ends on May 15.
The similar calendar is followed in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Gujarat. Vaisakhamasa is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is also known as Madhava Masam in Vaishnava calendar.
Vaishakha Snana is the main ritual observed during the month of Vaisakh. Special Vaisakha masa pujas are performed in many famous temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Lord Krishna, Lord Narasimha, etc.) in Karnataka.
Shukla Paksha in Kannada Vaisakha masa 2018 starts on April 16 and ends on April 29.
Krishna Paksha in Kannada Vaisakha masa 2018 starts on April 30 and ends on May 15.
Akshaya Tritiya, Narasimha Jayanthi (Narsimha Chaturdashi), and Buddha Purnima (Maha Vaishakhi) are the major festivals in Vaisakha maasa. Gauri Puja and Lakshmi Puja are performed on Aksha Thadiya in many regions of Karnataka.
On Akshaya Trutiya day, Chandana is offered to Sri Krishna idol of Udupi Sri Krishna Temple.
