Nearly 1100 years-old Rambhapuri Mutt (Veerashaiva Mutt) of Balehonnur in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka will celebrate Navaratri celebrations after a long gap of three decades in Bangalore. The Navratri celebrations of the Veerashaiva Mutt will start on September 28 and end on October 6, 2011. It will be held in Rajajinagar Ramamandir Ground. The ten-day festival marks variety of cultural and religious programs.
Jagadguru Renukacharya founded the Rambhapuri Veerashaiva Mutt during ancient period in Kruthayuga. Situated on the banks of Bhadra river in Narasimharajapura talluk of Chickmagalur district in Karnataka is a pilgrimage centre for Veerashivas (Lingayaths). According to Puranas and Shivagamas Jagadguru Renukacharya with the instructions from Lord Shiva took birth on this land to propagate right religious consciousness. Along with Jagadguru Renukacharya, Marulasiddha, Ekoramaradhya, Panditharadhya and Vishwaradhya took birth on this land and established separate Peethas at different parts of India.
