Narak Chaturdasi, 12 November 2012

Today, 12 November 2012 is Narak Chaturdasi. It is believed that on this day, demon Narakasura was killed by Lord Krishna & the Goddess.

Narak Chaturdasi, also known as Choti Diwali, is the second day of Diwali festival.

Narak Chaturdasi is also celebrated as Kali Choudas in Gujarat, Roop Chaudas in Rajasthan and Hanuman Jayanti in Gujarat.

It is believed that Lord Hanuman was born on this day hence Hanuman Jayanti is observed on Diwali Choudas in Gujarat.

Yamdeepdaan, Yama Tharpanam or lighting diyas is highly meritorious deed to perform on Narak Chaudash.
