Manthan Shashti

Manthan Shashti is an auspicious vrata observed in Bengal. It is observed in Bhadrapada Month as per Hindu traditional calendar. In 2014, Manthan Shashti date is August 31.

Manthan Shashti falls on the Shashti in Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada Month, the second day after the Ganesh Festival (Ganesh Chaturthi).

Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Surya Bhagavan (Sun God) are worshipped on this day. The major benefit or the merit of this vrata is better health and prosperity.

In many places it is also observed as Charpar Shashti / Charpada Shasthi, Akkhay Shasthi (Akshaya Shashti) / Surya Shashti.

In 2013, Manthan Shashti date was September 11.
