Jal Zilani Ekadashi (Jaljini Ekadashi)

Parsva Ekadasi or Vishnu Parivatan Ekadashi or Parsva Parivartani Ekadasi, also known as Jal Zilani Ekadashi or Jaljini Ekadasi is observed in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada or Bhadra masam (August – September). In 2021, Jal Zilani or Jaljini Ekadashi date is September 17.

On Jal Zilani Ekadashi, Lord Krishna and Lord Ganesha are worshipped. Jaljini Ekadashi is celebrated mostly in North Indian states. Jaljini Ekadasi is also known as Vamana Ekadashi or Jayanti Ekadasi.

Rituals and Pujas on Jal Zilani Ekadasi – What to do on Jaljini Ekadashi?

On Jalzilani Ekadashi day, devotees carry idols of Lord Krishna and Ganesha to any water body. Bhajans are sung and statras are chanted taking the idols across the water body on a boat to other side. After the rituals, clay idol of Lord Ganesha is submerged into the water.

    Padma ekadasi is also knows as jaljhoolni ekadashi, newly born krishna on janmashtami is taken to a holi water body with a misical procession, there after snan ( bath) clothes are being changed of Bal Krishna, so it is called kati parivartanotsav also, after aarti at lake the procession goes arround the city and ladies open their fast after darshan and pooja, this is how been celebrated in mount abu.
