Ganesh Jayanti (Jayanthi of Lord Ganesha) is observed on Magha Shukla Paksha Chaturthi, the fourth day in Magh Month especially in Maharashtra, some parts of Karnataka and Goa. In 2023, Maghi Ganesh Jayanti date is January 25.

It is observed as a grand event in all Ganesh temples in Maharashtra and households as well. Lord Ganesh is worshipped with Shodashopachar puja and offered special recipes as naivedya. Special recipes are prepared with Til or sesame. Hence the festival is also known as Til Kund Chaturthi or Tila Kunda Chavithi.

The popular Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi is celebrated in Bhadrapad month (August – September).
