FulKajali Vrat is mainly observed in Gujarati and some other western parts of India. In 2020, Fulkajali Vrat date is July 23.
It is observed on third day of Shravan Maas in Gujarati Calendar (Shravan Sud Trij). It is mainly observed by unmarried girls for good husband and great marital life ahead.
On this day, unmarried girls wake up early in the morning and prepare for vrat. Special pujas and food offerings are offered to the divine couple Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and Santarpana is offered for poor brahmins or the other needy.
Fulkajali Vrat is often pronounced as Fulkajdi Vrat. It is celebrated as Madhushrava Tritiya and Kajali Tritiya Vrat in other places of India. The similar vrata is observed in Telugu states as ‘Atla Thadde Nomu’ in Ashwin Month.
