Charpata Shashti is an auspicious vrata observed in Bengal. It is observed in Bhadra Month as per Hindu traditional calendar. In 2014, Charpata Shashti date is August 31.
Charpata Shashti falls on the Shashti in Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada Month, the second day after the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival.
Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Surya Bhagavan (Sun God) are worshipped on this day. The major benefit or the merit of this vrata is better health and prosperity.
In many places it is also observed as Manthan Shasthi, Akkhay Shasthi (Akshaya Shashti) / Surya Shashti.
