MA ANNAPURNA MARAKADHA MANIMALAI
Ma Annapurna Marakadha Manimalai(Pearl studded Jewel) was a wonderful poem which was written by Sri Adishankara. Some of the verses from the marvellous poem are as follows:
Salutations to Mother Annapoorna: O our great Dear Mother Annapoorna, you who are always full (with the gift of Food and Blessings), You who are the beloved of Shankara (Shiva),
O Mother Parvati, please grant me the alms of your Grace, to awaken within me Spiritual Knowledge (Jnana) and detachment, freedom from all worldly desires (Vairagya).
Salutations to Mother Annapoorna, my Mother Devi Parvati, and my Father, Deva Maheswara (Shiva). My friends are the devotees of Lord Shiva, and my residence is all the Three Worlds (whose Lord is none other than Shiva-Parvati).
O, Mother Annapurneswari, Who is The Goddess of Kasi,
Who helps others with kindness, Who makes all days deliriously happy,
Who gives boons and shelter to all, Who is the epitome of all beauty,
Who cleans up all sorrows from life, Who is the ever-visible Goddess of the world,
Who is the star of the family of Himavan, Please give me alms, Oh the holy mother food goddess you are the Ocean of kindness and compassion. Through your powerful third eye, you are making us the view the beautiful things in the world.
O Mother Annapurneswari, You are the child goddess Ma Baalambika, You are the powerful goddesses Kali, Angalamma, Durga, Bhavani, Kamakya, Kamakshi, Kamalakshi and Ma Chinamasta, you are the Goddess of Kasi,
Who is adorned with jewels of variety, Who is dressed in golden silk,
Who has a beautiful chest which produces the holy milk and provides to us daily through Gomata (cows), contains the heaven like mouth, which produces the precious holy water in the form of rain, to the whole universe, golden fish like eyes which showers mercy, strong attractive hands which blesses us, plantain pith like legs which holds the entire universe, her fingers look like the pretty fresh rose petals, her eyebrows look like the arrows, her face shines brightly like the thousand suns, she contains beautiful body and by seeing her wonderful appearance, illusion would be permanently erased from our mind, who contains a golden food pot which grants the food which tastes like the Divine Amirtha, and she is the one who grants salvation to us.
Oh, My Sweet Mother, who removes the dangerous diseases like the lust, anger, greed and negativity from us, who is always adorned with golden chains full of gems,
Who is the epitome of all beauty,
Please give me alms, Ocean of kindness and compassion.
O Mother Annapurneswari, who is The Goddess of Kasi,
Who gives bliss through Yoga, who destroys enemies,
Who makes dharma and wealth permanent,
Who shines like the fire, Who takes care of all the three worlds,
Who gives all the wealth, Who fulfils all wishes,
Please give me alms, Ocean of kindness and compassion.
O Mother Annapurneswari, who is The Goddess of Kasi,
Who lives in a cave in Mount Kailasa, who is also called Gauri, Uma and Sankari,
Who is an ever-blissful maiden, Who is known only through meaning of Vedas,
Who is personification of “OM”, Who opens the gates of Moksha,
Please give me alms, Ocean of kindness and compassion.
O Mother Annapurneswari, who is The Goddess of Kasi,
Who is the vehicle of the seen and unseen, who is carrying the universes inside her,
Who cuts of attachment to this world, who is the beacon of light for all science,
Who makes the Lord of Universe happy,
Please give me alms, Ocean of kindness and compassion.
