Amalaki Ekadashi, 3 March 2023

3 March 2023 is Amalaki Ekadashi, Rangbhari Ekadashi. It falls on Phalgun Month Shukla Ekadashi as per all – North Indian Hindi calendars (Purnimanth Panchang) and Amavasyant Panchangams (Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada & Telugu calendars).

In 2023, Amalaki Ekadashi falls in Maasi Masam of Tamil Panchangam, Kumbha Masam in Malayalam calendar and Falgun Month in Bengali Panjika.

Amalaki Tree is worshipped on this Ekadashi Vrat. Amalaki is offspring of Lord Brahma, who can destroy all kinds of sinful reactions. If Amalaki tree is not available, Tulsi tree is offered the same puja.

It is also observed as Rangbhari Ekadashi in Varanasi Kashi Vishwanath Temple. It marks the beginning of Holi festival in Varanasi.

Amalaki Ekadashi Vrat Katha, the story associated with this Ekadasi, is mentioned in the Brahmanda Purana as a conversation between King Mandhata and Vashishta Muni.
