Shankaracharya, also revered as Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada, is the most honored and popular saint in Hinduism. Shankara Jayanthi 2011 date is 8 May, today. In many places the festival is celebrated for a week known as Shankara Jayanthi week (Shankaracharya Jayanthi Vaarotsavalu).
In Sringeri Sharada Peetham, and in all Jagadguru peethams, Shankara Jayanthi is celebrated with utmost gaiety.
