23 October 2025 is Bhai Dooj (Bhau Beej), Yama Dwitiya, Bhatru Dwitiya, Bhai Phota, Dawat Puja (Chitragupta Jayanti Pujan), Bhagini Hastha Bhojanam. On this day, brothers visit their sisters’ house and take meal. In return, brothers offer gifts to their sisters.
In Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and many other areas of India, it is observed as Bhai Dooj or Bhau Beej.
In West Bengal it is celebrated as Bhai Phonta and in Nepal as part of Diwali Tihar it is celebrated as Bhai Tika.
In south Indian states, Yama Dwitiya is observed on this day. Yama Puja, Yama Tharpanam, and Bhagini Hastha Bhojanam are the main rituals of this last day of Deepavali in South Indian states – Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.
In Hyderabad and Secunderabad twin cities, ‘Sadar’ festival is celebrated on this day. Sadar is the traditional buffalo carnival held in Andhra Pradesh during Diwali festival.
