Shanta Chaturthi or Shantha Chavithi Vrata is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is observed on Shukla paksha Chavithi in Falguna month as per the traditional Telugu calendar. In 2012, Shanta Chavithi date is February 25. As the name implies, this vrata is performed for mental harmony of individuals and universal peace.
There is no specific ritual and legend associated with Shanti Chavithi vratam. Mauna Vrata is also observed during this vratam.
Shant Chaturthi is also observed as Putra Ganapathi Vratham in Andhra Pradesh and Avighna Ganesha Vrata in some other parts of India.
