This is one such incident that exemplifies the joy of giving and donating. Most of us sidetrack the whole incident but grasp the conclusion that getting gold and silver on this day brings us the abundant wealth.
There was a tradition in olden days that those who wanted to perform their children’s marriage in marriage season (Shravan Month – Magh Month) used to buy gold on Akshaya Tritiya and store it for the occasion. This has become huge in nowadays and people made it a tradition of buying gold on this day irrespective of anyone’s marriage or any functions.
Lakshmi Puja or Kubera Lakshmi Puja is an auspicious ritual to perform on Akshaya Tritiya day as is the day of appointment of Kubera as the Banker of the Heaven (Dhanadhipathi).
