Vishwakarma Puja (Biswakarma Diwas) – Vishwakarma Festival

Vishwakarma Puja (Biswakarma Diwas) is the day to worship Lord Vishwakarma, the Hindu God of architecture and engineering. Vishwakarma Puja 2013 date is September 17. Biswakarma Diwas is celebrated mainly in industrial towns of West Bengal, Orissa, Tripura, Assam and some other Eastern and Northern states of India.

Lord Vishwakarma is the divine architect, designer, craftsman and creator of mythological constructions. As per Hindu Mythology or religious history, Bishwakarma has created many weapons, buildings, and missiles. Viswakarma is associated with the creation of ‘Vajrayudh from the bones of Dadhichi. Hindu Mythology says that Biswakarma has designed and constructed the whole universe, heaven and all lokas.

On the day of Vishwakarma Pooja, industries, factories, companies related to machinery and tools are in jubilant mood. In Orissa and Bengal, colourful kites are flown all over the sky on Vishwakarma Pooja. Machinery and tools are kept aside and worshipped on this festival. Deity is offered ‘naivedya and after the puja ‘naivedya is distributed as ‘Prasad.

In some places, industries and factories will make resolutions on the auspicious day of Vishwakarma Puja for better achievements.
