TTD’s additional Laddu tokens for common pilgrims – The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to provide additional laddu tokens at the second Vaikuntam queue complex for the convenience of the common pilgfims. The common pilgrims passing through the second Vaikuntam complex in the dharma darshan queue lines hitherto availed the additional laddus from the counters set-up adjacent to the main temple complex.
The decision that has come into force since Monday enables the common pilgrims to secure two additional laddu tokens, along with two subsidised laddu tokens at one go in the queue compartment.
Even though the decision is considered to benefit the ordinary devotees in particular, it nonetheless has come as a handy to the temple administration in checking the perennial black marketing of the laddus.
The TTD has already streamlined the issuing of laddus to the devotees opting other forms of darshan. While the devotees preferring Rs.300/- special entry can comfortably avail the additional laddus at the time of booking their tickets online, those reaching the town on foot availing the Divya darshan tickets (issued half-way on the foot paths) are provided with the tokens on their entry into the darshan lines.
It is against this back drop that speculations are ripe that the laddu counters existing outside the temple complex are bound to be closed down in the near future. If it were to happen then the saccharine balls to which the visiting devout attach great sanctity will no longer be available in the flourishing black market as of now. Only those who go for the darshan of the presiding deity will have the ‘reach’ to the sweet laddus.
