TTD, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will sell books about Tirumala inscriptions for 50% discount. The Tirumala inscriptions were brought out by the popular epigraphist late Sri Sadhu Subramanya Sastry.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to sell eight volumes of Tirumala inscriptions – brought out by famous epigraphist Late Sri Sadhu Subrahmanya Sastry — at 50 per cent discount. It may be mentioned here that Sastry was instrumental in bringing to light the copper plates containing the inscriptions of ‘Annamayya Keertans’ from the ‘Bhandagaram’ in the Tirumala temple.

As ‘Parupathyadar’, ‘Peishkar’ and epigraphist of the TTD, Sastry had meticulously conducted research on Tirumala’s history to bring out a comprehensive volume on inscription works. These volumes are: The Early Inscriptions, The Inscriptions of Saluvaraya Times, The Inscriptions of Krishnaraya Times, The inscriptions of Achutaraya Times, The Inscriptions of Sadasivaraya Times, The Inscriptions of Venkatapathyraya Times, Epigraphical Glossary on Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Inscriptions and Report on the Inscriptions of Devasthanams Collections with Illustrations.

The great voluminous work by Sastry includes the rare offering made by different dynasties, viz. the Pallavas, the Cholas, the Pandyas, the Yadavarayas and many more. There are also rare interesting and fascinating facts regarding Tirumala and Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple embedded in these volumes.The great work by Sastry also provided space to the mahants, trademen, commandersin-chief of various dynasties, saint-poets, sevas being performed in the temple during that time in the Tirumala temple, etc.

These books will act as masterpieces of great value to historians, research scholars and those who are eager to know the history of Tirumala shrine. The price of a set of eight volumes of this great literary masterpiece is `990. However, the TTD has now decided to sell these books at a subsidised rate of `495 only.
