The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has now published two books depicting historic collection of coins donated to the presiding deity Lord Sri Venkateswara. The books published with the latest printing technology are a valuable study material for students of history and religion, and research scholars.
“To spread awareness among devotees on the rich heritage of coins donated by pilgrims and donors across centuries and for the benefit of studens and researchers, the TTD has brought out the colorful publications,” says a TTD statement.
The books brought out by the TTD publications and sales wing has listed detailed historical background and numismatic relevance and value of gold, silver, copper and other panchaloha coins donated by pilgrims and yesteryear kings, chieftains, emperors including British and Muslim devotees of Lord Sri Venkateswara.
The books in English are: Gold coins in the Srivari Hundi of Lord Venkateswara and Silver, copper and other metal coins in the Srivari Hundi of Lord Venkateswara. It has also come out with a book in Telugu, Tirumala Sri Venkateswaruni Hundilo Bangaru Nanelu.
The publications contain detailed historical and numismatic information on 1213 gold coins dating back to Roman period, foreign coins and those of Indian kings, emperors and also British and Muslim rulers. Another publication comprised detailed history of 1382 coins made of silver, copper and other metals. “The publications are a treasure cove of historical and antique values and a study material for students of history and research,” the TTD says.
The books are are available at all TTD outlets and sales counters across the country.
