Srinagar Vicharnag Temple reopens

Historic Vicahrnag temple was reopened on Akshaya Tritiya (May 16, 2010) amid the Vedic ritual and chanting of hymns. Kashmir Pandits gathered in large numbers and offered pujas as it is reopened after 20 years. The temple was closed in the ‘90s when the Kashmir Pandits migrated from the Kashmir valley following turbulence.
Vicharnag temple is located in Soura city of Srinagar district in Kashmir. Thousands of people used to converge for Navratri celebrations at the temple.
