Shani Pradosh or Sani Pradosha vrata is observed on Trayodashi tithi or the 13th day in Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha in a Hindu month which falls on Shanivar or Saturday. There are three Shani Pradosh in 2023. Each one in February, March and July.

Any Pradosha puja is performed by devotees during or after Suryasthamaya or sunset.

The main purpose of Sani Pradosha vrat is to pacify the bad effects of Lord Shani who is also known as one of the most powerful and effective Navagraha or nine celestial Gods.

Saturday, 18 February 2023 – Shani Pradosh Vrat, Krishna Paksha Trayodashi Pradosham

This Pradosh Vrat falls in Krishna Paksha of Phalgun Month in North Indian Amavasyant Calendars and in Magh Maas of Chandramana Panchangams of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Gujarat.

It is Krishna Paksha Pradosham in Maasi Masam of Tamil Calendar, Kumbha Masam of Malayalam Calendar and Phalgun Mash of Bengali Panjika.

Saturday, 4 March 2023 – Shani Pradosh Vrat, Shukla Paksha Trayodashi Pradosham

This Pradosh Vrat falls in Shukla Paksha of Phalgun Month in North Indian Amavasyant Calendars and Chandramana Panchangams of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Gujarat.

It is Shukla Paksha Pradosham in Maasi Masam of Tamil Calendar, Kumbha Masam of Malayalam Calendar and Phalgun Mash of Bengali Panjika.

Saturday, 1 July 2023 – Shani Pradosh Vrat, Shukla Paksha Trayodashi Pradosham

This Pradosh Vrat falls in Shukla Paksha of Ashad Month in North Indian Amavasyant Calendars and Chandramana Panchangams of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Gujarat.

It is Shukla Paksha Pradosham in Aani Masam of Tamil Calendar, Midhuna Masam of Malayalam Calendar and Aashar Mash of Bengali Panjika.
