Naraka Chaturdashi, 2 November 2013

Today, 2 November 2013 is Naraka Chaturdashi. It is believed that on this day, demon Narakasura was killed by Lord Krishna & the Goddess.

Naraka Chaturdashi, also known as Choti Diwali, is the second day of Diwali festival.

Naraka Chaturdashi is also celebrated as Kali Choudas in Gujarat, Roop Chaudas in Rajasthan and Hanuman Jayanti in Gujarat.

It is believed that Lord Hanuman was born on this day hence Hanuman Jayanti is observed on Diwali Choudas in Gujarat.

Yamdeepdaan, Yama Tharpanam or lighting diyas is highly meritorious deed to perform on Narak Chaudash.
