Mohini is an affiliation or avatar of Vishnu. The weapon in Her hands are known as Mohini-astra that is used for seduction and Sudarshana Chakra. Her consort is Lord Shiva.

According to the Hindu religious scholars and pundits, among avatar of the Hindu god Lord Vishnu, Mohini is the only female avatar of the Lord. It is to be highly noted that she is largely portrayed as who maddens lovers, an enchantress, a femme fatale, sometimes perfectly leading them successfully to their doom.

It is to be remembered that in the narrative epic that is popularly known as The Mahabharata, Mohini is largely introduced initially into the Hindu mythos. In this epic, she greatly appears in the form of Lord Vishnu. Here it is mentioned as she successfully acquired from thieving asuras (demons), the pot of Amrita which means an elixir of immortality. Later She gives the pot of Amrita back to the Devas (gods) in order to help them retain their immortality successfully.

Several legends of Hindu religion have mentioned her union with Lord Shiva. There are also many exploits and marriages related to this particular Lord.  She is also related to the tale of the destruction of the ash-demon named Bhasmasura and the birth of the god Shasta.

According to the local legends, Mohini beguile those she encounters on her path and wholeheartedly wins them by Her primary modus operandi is utilizing various types of tricks successfully. In the religious circuit of Hindusim, Mohini has a significant religious and social value among the devotees.
