Metlothsavam (Metlu Uthsavam) at Tirumala Tirupati Temple

Metlothsavam (Metlu Uthsavam) at Tirumala Tirupati Temple will be celebrated on 13 & 14 April 2015.

About 200 bhajan parties comprising 4,000 devotees from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Puducherry will be participating in the 46th Metlu Uthsavam (Steps Festival) to be conducted by the Tirupathi Tirumala Steps Festival Trust, Arcot on April 13 and 14.

Metlu Uthsavam will be preceded by a bhajan mela in the TTD Bhoodevi buildings near the Balaji Bus Stand in Alipiri in Tirupathi at 4 p.m. on April 13, when the devotees will sing bhajans and ‘Nama Sankeerthana.’ Most of the devotees would reach Tirupati by ‘padha yathra’ (journey on foot) from their villages.

Annadhana will be arranged by Om Murugasramam, Chennai and Hotel Bhimas on the night of April 13 at Tirupati.

The Metlu Uthsavam will commence at 6 a.m. on April 14 at Alipiri in the presence of the heads of various mutts, artists and devotees under the auspices of the Steps Festival Trust. Traders in Tirumala would provide butter milk to the devotees as they climb the steps leading to Tirumala.

On reaching Tirumala, the devotees will go in a procession along the four Mada Streets before having darshan at Sri Venkateswara Temple. Bhajans and religious discourses have been arranged at Tirumala on April 14.

The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams has arranged for free food and accommodation for the devotees at Tirumala.
