Mandira Pureeswarar Temple, Kovilur (Tamil Nadu)

Sri Mandira Pureeswarar temple is located in the village named Kovilur, in the district of Tiruvarur, in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. The primary deity of this temple is Mandira Pureeswarar (Suthavanaperumal) (Lord Shiva) and his consorts are none.

The holy tree of this temple is Vilwa. The holy water of this temple is Krupa Theertham. The agamam or pooja of this temple is known as Kameeyam. This temple is nearly 1000-2000 years old in this region. The historical name of this place is none.

The important festivals that are associated with this temple are Tirukarthikai in November-December, Shivarathri, all the Ekadashi days, Deepavalli, Pongal, New Year days as per the Gergion Calendar and Hindu traditional calendar plus Masi Brahmmotsavam in February-March.

It is to be highly noted that a devotee who prays to this particular Lord gets immediately blessed with job opportunities and children.   A large number of devotees pray to this Lord for the removal of obstacles marriage affairs, to education, etc. The temple is normally open in the morning hours and evening hours only but during the festivals and auspicious days, is opened for long hours.
