Largest Shani statue at Yerdanur Sangareddy

The 20-foot largest Shani statue installed at Yerdanur, a small village located near Sangareddy town in Medak district of Telangana.

The idol was sculpted by Subbayya Sthapati of Madurai after toiling for about two years with the assistance of eight other sculptors at Karavaikudi in Tamil Nadu. Even finding a black monolithic rock of that size was a Herculean task, he says.

The idol weighing about nine tonne, with a height of about 20 feet including 2 feet of basement, was established by Thakur Suryapratap Singh and his three sons – Thakur Sudhir Singh, Thakur Sunil Singh and Thakur Shakti Singh. While Sudhir is an engineer, his siblings are doctors who are deeply involved in religious activities.

This 20 feet tall statue of Lord Shani has been established at Yerdhanur in Sangareddy (M), Medak (D) (Telangana state) nearly 40 kilo meters to Hyderabad city and around 8–10 km from Patancheru easy to reach by road and by far is being considered as the largest statue of The Lord of Saturday.

It has been carved of a monolith and weighs about nine tonnes. A Sri Sri Sringeri Jagadguru Maha Samsthanamu – Dakshinamnaya Sharada Peetam – Sapthaprakarayutha Sri Durga Bhavani Kshetramu dedicated to her highly blessing Goddess Durga temple is located near to here at Eeshwarapuram village (Ismailkhanpet) Sangareddy (Mandal) is a place to be visited.
