Sri Kailasanathar temple is based in the popular town known as Kodaganallur, in the district of Tirunelveli, in the state of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. The primary of this temple is Kailasanathar (Lord Shiva) and his consort is none.
The holy tree of this temple is Wild Puli. The holy water of this temple is nearest River water. The agamam or pooja of this temple is known as Sivaagamam. This temple is nearly 500-1000 years old in this region. The historical name of this spot is Kodaganallur.
The most important festivals of this temple are the Vaikasi Visakam in May-June, Tirukarthikai in November-December, Shivrathri in February March, Tamil New Year day falling almost on April 14 marked with a wedding festival, Thai Poosam in January-February, Skanda Sashti in October-November, Deepavalli, English New Year day, etc are celebrated with lot of devotion and dedication in this temple.
Special puja and rituals are also marked on the day of Shivarathri with great dedication and devotion. During all the important religious days and auspicious days are marked with long hours in this temple. The temple’s timings are between 6.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 4.00 to 9.30 p.m for devotees and pilgrims.

Special pujas are performed on the days to the Lord and participated by all the devotees and pilgrims who visit this shrine with lot of devotion and dedication.
