Kamada Ekadasi Vrat, 3 April 2012

Today, 3 April 2012 is Kamada Ekadasi. Kamada Ekadasi is an auspicious Ekadasi vrata and the first Ekadasi in Hindu New Year. It is highly meritorious as it even wipes out the sin of Brahma Hatya (Brahma Hatya dosham). Kamada Ekadasi vrat katha or the story is mentioned in the Varaha Purana as a conversation between Lord Krishna and King Yudhistira. The story is associated with a Gandharva.

Kamada Ekadasi marks the beginning of Phool Bangal Utsav in Banke Bihariji temple in Vrindavan. The festival continues till Haryali Amavasya.
