Goddess gajalakshmi
Gajalakshmi (Gaja Laxmi), Lakshmi with elephants, is one of the eight important aspects of Goddess Lakshmi. In Gajaalakshmi aspect, Goddess Laxmi is sits on a lotus.
Gaja Laxmi is depicated as two elephants (Gaja) on her both sides pouring water from their trunks.
Gajalakshmi is shown in Padmasana posture. She is shown with four arms. Gajalakshmi holds a lotus in each of her upper arms and the lower hands are depicted in Abhaya mudra and Varada mudra (in blessing postures).
Gajalakshmi is considered as the sign of prosperity, happiness and luck.
Gajalakshmi is the Goddess who brought back all the wealth lost by Indra, the King of Devas (demi Gods). She is the giver of animal wealth such as cattle and elephants. Gajalaxmi is the fourth aspect of Ashtalakshmi (eight aspects of Goddess Laxmi).
Gajalakshmi vrat or Puja dedicated to Gajalaxmi is performed on Bhadrapad Shukla Dashami.
