Dakshinamurthy Ashtakam or Dakshinamurti Astakam, written and composed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya, is a popular hymn or stotram dedicated to Lord Dakshinamurthy who is also known as Medho Dakshinamurti or Jnana Dakshinamurthi.
Dakshinamurthi Ashtakam contains 10 slokas from which 8 are of actual stotra, 1 slokam is an introductory one and remaining one is of Phala stuthi or benefits or merits of the stotram. Dakshinamurthi Astakam is the most special mantram to chant during Guru Purnima.
