Dhanteras is the first day of five-day Diwali festival. Dhanteras 2023 date is November 10. Dhanteras (Dhantrayodashi or Dhanvantari Triodasi) is celebrated on thirteenth day of Krishna Paksha in Kartik Month. On Dhanteras festival day, Goddess Dhanlakshmi is worshipped for prosperity and happiness.

Dhanteras Lakshmi Puja is very important for businessmen. On this day, houses and business places are cleaned neatly and decorated. Colourful Rangolis or Alpanas or Muggulu and Lakshmis footprints are drawn to welcome the Goddess to their living spaces and to their business homes. Diyas are kept burning throughout the night as the Goddess brings light into their lives.

Devotees believe that purchasing any new things on Dhanteras brings luck and charm to them. In the evening, Lakshmi Puja is performed in tremendous atmosphere dedicated to the Goddess.

    Why there is difference in Hindu months of North India and South India. When Kartik month begins in North India, still it is Ashwin maas in South India, Gujarat & Maharashtra ?
