Devaprasnam at Sabarimala Temple

Devaprasnam at Sabarimala Temple – The two-day-long ‘ashtamangala devaprasnam’ at the Lord Ayyappa temple here concluded on Thursday on a positive note, with the Devaswom authorities deciding to offer ‘thrikala pooja’ at the temple and to conduct atonement rites at important temples across the state.

Astrologer Cheruvalli Narayanan Nampoothiri, who headed the devaprasnam, suggested that ‘thrikala pooja’ be conducted at the Lord Ayyappa temple, with the expenses being met by the Devaswom. The Devaswom authorities should offer poojas at the Thaliparamba Rajarajeswara temple; the Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple; the Aranmula temple; the Sree Dharma Sastha temples at Kulathupuzha, Aryankavu, Achankovil and Erumeli, and at the Sree Padmanabha Swami temple, Thiruvananthapuram.

Also, special poojas should be offered at the Nilackal temple and the Malikappuram temple. As part of the atonement rites, ‘pithrupooja’ should be conducted at the Sree Parasurama temple, Thiruvallam.

It was found in the devaprasnam that there was presence of Lord Mahavishnu at Sabarimala, which the authorities hitherto failed to take into account. As part of the atonement rites, ‘Vishnu pooja’ should be conducted in the beginning of all the ‘mandala pooja’ seasons at Sabarimala. The devaprasnam also cautioned the Devaswom authorities to be alert during the ‘dangerous’ period in the next six years at Sabarimala. To deal with the ‘dangerous’ period, special poojas and mass prayers should be conducted for Lord Ayyappa to prevent any unforeseen situation.

In the devaprasnam, it was found that the water used for rituals at the Lord Ayyappa and Malikappuram temples should be replaced with the water taken from the closed well near the Malikappuram temple. The Devaswom authorities should take urgent measures to ensure the supply of quality ingredients for the conduct of rituals at the Lord Ayyappa temple,it was observed.
