Sri Prasanna Venkateshwara Temple of Kolar, also popular as Chikka Tirupati, is located at the distance of 40 KMs from Bangalore. Situated in Malur Taluk of Kolar district, Chikka Tirupathi is one of the ancient temples in Karnataka state with rich history, heritage and culture linked to it.

The presiding deity of the temple is Sri Prasanna Venkateshwara swamy with his divine consorts Sri Devi & Bhudevi.

As per the Puranas, the origin and the history of Chikka Tirupathi temple is dated back to Mahabharata time. It is believed the main idol was installed by Agni deva, the Lord of Fire.

This is the only temple after Puri Jagannath Mandir to get the new Ratha (wooden chariot) every year for Rathothsava. The Ratha is of seventy-feet tall.
