Ashada Amavasya Pithru Tharpan & Pinda Pradhan Rituals

Ashada Amavasya is highly auspicious day for Pithru tharpan. Though every Amavasya day is important to pay our respect to our ancestors, Ashada Amavasya has every kind of significance for Pitru Tharpanam and Pinda Pradhanam. In 2022, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya is June 29. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2022 date is July 28.

Just after the day of Ashada Amavasya, the holy Shravan month begins in the latter Panchangs.

In Maharashtra, Ashadi Amavasya is celebrated as Gatari Amavasya. On Gatari Amavasya, Maharashtrians eat non-vegetarian food and prepare for Shravana Maas Vrat.

On this day, Pitru devatas are highly active and the every good deed like charity, puja or any other auspicious ritual performed by us will definitely reaches them and provides peace to their souls. Another significant Amavasya which is auspicious for Pitru Tharpan and Pinda Pradhan to our ancestors is Mahalaya Amavasya.

In 2020, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya is June 21. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2020 date is July 20.

In 2019, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya is July 2. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2019 date is August 1.

In 2018, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya is July 13. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2018 date is August 11.

In 2017, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya is June 24. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2017 date is July 23.

In 2016, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya is July 4. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2016 date is August 2.

In 2015, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya was July 15 / July 16. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2015 date was August 14.

In 2014, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya is June 27. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2014 date is July 26.

In 2013, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya is July 7. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2013 date is August 6.

In 2012, as per the North Indian Hindi calendars, the date of Ashada Amavasya was June 19. In Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada calendars, Ashada Amavasya 2012 date was July 19.
