Art occupies a major role in Hindu temples. We can find variety of paintings of the deities in various temples. Art and Architecture are very essential for building a temple successfully. Ancient sculptors and builders would take a long time to build a Hindu temple. Before building the temple, they would worship the first god Lord Vinayaka, and perform puja to him, in order to remove the obstacles on their path. They would devote their time and energy towards building the temple in an efficient manner.

Artist plays a significant role in constructing the temples. Still now we can see the rich paintings in lot of temples in India, and now we are able to enjoy its beauty, due to the hard work rendered by the skilled artisans, sculptors and painters.

The Konark Sun Temple was built before few centuries, and even it was destroyed by some enemy attacks in the past periods, it still contains its natural beauty due to its good art and architecture. Similarly the Thanjavur Big Temple is well praised for its good art and architecture. In ancient periods, it was made possible by the kings and the common people, due to their selfless devotion on the almighty.

In Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, the 1000 pillar Madapam contains a very good architecture, and it was built by the then architects by utilizing their entire skills. Similarly the Trichy Rock Fort Temple and the Arunachaleswarar Temple, Thiruvannamalai are praised for its good art and architecture even by the foreigners, and that’s why they are willing to visit our country during their holidays.

But some of us are not appreciating the talents of our ancient kings, and we are simply visiting the monumental temples, without thinking about the hard work rendered by our holy artisans and architects.

Hence, let us appreciate the talents of our ancient kings and the temple builders and be blessed.
