Adhik maas or Adhika masam or Adhik mahina is an extra month in lunar calendar of Hinduism. It comes once in two and half years.

In 2012 – 2013 Hindu year there was Adhik Bhadrapad maas. In 2010 – 2011, there was Adhik Vaishakh month.
It is understood that Adhikamasa occurs around 32 to 33 months. It may be actually any time between 28 to 36 months. So the gap between 2018-19, and 2023-24 must be having one more adhika masa!
I am not good at astronomy, forgive me if I am wrong.
That done not matter, as long as you take interest in your religion for inside.
A month before this would be Shravan month where mostly, all Shiv Puja’s ( Special prayers on Lord Shiva’s) would be done only of Mondays . Also the Fasting would be for the whole month.
Furthermore, the Adhik month would be where Shiv Puja’s (Special prayers of Lord Shiva’s) would be done every days and would be another month of fasting as well.
As a result, this year, the fast would for 2 months (60 days).

Sir. Adikmass not even observed in Palguna masam too apart from margashira pushya and magha masas.also vaishakha adika’s are very inconsistant pl. through some information in this regard.
Surprisingly there does not seem to be Adhik maas entry for probable year 2020 in above. Any specific reason? Is there Kshay maas? But in that case there will be two padding adhik maas entries. Please guide.

Kindly clarify whether, this year, Jyestha month had only one fortnight ( May 1 to May 15) and Purushottam month is going to be of two fortnights ( May 16 to June 13) and the next month would begin on June 14? The combination of 15 day Jyeshtha month and 29 day Purushottam month would be known as Jyestha (Adhik) only which would be of 44 days – not of 60 days? Would s Date Converter accept a date Jyestha 43 to find its corresponding Gregorian date?
As per Hindi calendars, Pratham Jyeshta Month begins on 1 May and ends on 29 May. Dwitiya Jyeshta Month begins on 30 May and ends on 28 June.
And Purushottam Maas begins on Shukla Pratipada (16 May) and ends on Krishna Amavasya (13 June). And the second fortnight of Nija Jyeshta Month begins on 14 June and ends on June 28.
