| Ramlila, also spelt as Ramleela, is a folk drama to display the legend of Ramayana. Ramlila is celebrated during Durga Sharad Navratras. Ramleela 2010 starts on October 8th and ends on October 17th with Vijayadashami, the culmination day of Navaratri. It is very popular celebration of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and some other parts of North India. The story or drama goes on for 10 days and on Vijaya Dashami day huge effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakaran and Meghanath are set fire. The artists who play Lord Ram and Lakshman set the fire to huge effigies of Ravan and the other two demons. UNESCO considered Ramlila as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heriatage of Humanity. It is not only performed in Indian subcontinent but in many countries like South Africa, Mauritius, Fiji, Canada, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, England and other Great British countries, United States of America, Australia and Thailand.
