In 2012, Sri Krishna Janmashtami Krishna Janmashtami is on 9 August & 10 August 2012. It will start at 11.11 AM on 9 August and will continue till 1.41 PM on 10 August (Ashtami). As Smarta people celebrate it on the day when Ashtami starts … i.e Smarta Janmashtami. In North India, it is celebrated on actual Ashtami day i.e. 10 August. And some people celebrate Janmashtami on Rohini Nakshatra day…

In some places Janmashtami puja is performed throughout the day. Some devotees observe it during Abhijit Muhurta. Others perform it after sunset and some others do it at midnight. Devotees break the fast after performing puja.

Abhijit Muhurat on 9 August is between noon 12.07 and 12.59. And on 10 August, Abhijit Muhurat is from 12.07 PM to 12.58 PM.
